Jeff Courey | Matrix Capital Management
Managing Director Jeff is a Managing Director at Matrix Capital Management, an $8 billion tech-focused growth fund based in Waltham, MA. The fund has a concentrated, low turnover portfolio focused on four sectors: software, the convergence of technology and life sciences, semiconductors, and consumer internet. Jeff is currently focused on software across horizontal applications, vertical applications, and infrastructure, and has worked across all sectors during his time at Matrix. Prior to joining in 2008, he was a principal of Skystone Capital Management, a Boston-based “private equity approach to public investing” hedge fund. Previously, he was a principal at Bain Capital, doing traditional private equity in companies like Burger King and Dollarama. Before business school he worked in consulting at Mercer and CDI. He received an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a George F. Baker Scholar, and a BA from Yale University (Summa cum laude). |
Pat Dorsey | Dorsey Asset Management
Founder, Portfolio Manager Pat Dorsey is the founder of Dorsey Asset Management, a concentrated long-only equity manager based in Chicago. Prior to founding Dorsey Asset, Pat was Director of Equity Research for Morningstar, where he led the growth of Morningstar’s equity research group from 20 to 90 analysts. He is the author of two books — The Five Rules for Successful Stock Investing and The Little Book that Builds Wealth. Pat holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in government from Wesleyan University. He is a CFA charterholder. |
Christian Heck | First Eagle
Portfolio Manager Christian Heck is a portfolio manager of the International Value strategy and Fund of America, as well as an associate director of research for the Global Value team and a senior research analyst covering industrials, gaming, electrical equipment and technology. Prior to joining First Eagle in September 2013, Mr. Heck was a research analyst at Paradigm Capital, a value-oriented hedge fund based in Germany. He also interned with Waterland Private Equity Investments and the Boston Consulting Group. He earned a BSc in business from Wright State and an MBA from Yale School of Management, where he was a Silver Scholar, and he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He is fluent in German. |
Marc Wallach | Ruane, Cunniff, & Goldfarb
Analyst Marc Wallach has been a generalist investor at Ruane Cunniff for the past ten years. Mr. Wallach is a partner with its Wishbone Management fund and a co-manager of its Poplar fund, two long-only funds that each invest in 10-20 intensively-researched companies, globally, and predominantly in equities. Poplar has a particular emphasis on liquidity, yield and resilience to macro conditions, and is oriented towards foundations, endowments and other investors with substantial annual spending needs. Mr. Wallach graduated from Yale, where he competed on the debate team. |
