The purpose of this panel is to introduce students to the perspectives of fundamental investors and the investment research process for discovering long-term value creation opportunities.
The panelists will share their initial interests in investing and talk about the successes and challenges in their subsequent investing journeys. Together, we will discuss the development and changes in the fundamental investing process with the rise and disruption of technology.

Bryan Cameron | Dodge & Cox
Director of Research Mr. Cameron is the Director of Research and Senior Vice President at Dodge & Cox Investment Managers, where he has worked since 1983. Dodge & Cox is headquartered in San Francisco and invests approximately $300 billion in publicly traded equities and fixed income securities on behalf of clients. Bryan was born in Boulder, CO, raised in Lafayette, CA, and resides in Menlo Park, CA. College Athletics leads the list of his personal interests and he attends virtually all of Cal’s football and basketball games. He holds an M.B.A. from Stanford University (1983) and a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Davis (1980). |
Pat Dorsey | Dorsey Asset Management
Founder, Portfolio Manager Pat is the founder of Dorsey Asset Management. Prior to starting Dorsey Asset, Pat was Director of Research for Sanibel Captiva Trust, an independent trust company serving high net worth clients. From 2000 to 2011, Pat was Director of Equity Research for Morningstar, where he led the growth of Morningstar’s equity research group from 20 to 90 analysts. Pat was instrumental in the development of Morningstar’s economic moat ratings, as well as the methodology behind Morningstar’s framework for analyzing competitive advantage. Pat is also the author of two books — The Five Rules for Successful Stock Investing and The Little Book that Builds Wealth. Pat holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in government from Wesleyan University. He is a CFA charterholder. |
Fred Liu | Hayden Capital
Founder, Portfolio Manager Fred Liu is Hayden Capital’s founder and portfolio manager. He holds a B.S. in finance and international business from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Prior to founding Hayden Capital, Fred was a research analyst at New Street Research responsible for covering the cable and satellite industries. Before this, he was a research analyst on J.P. Morgan’s Small Cap Equity fund, a five-star Morningstar ranked strategy that invested in securities under $2 Billion in market cap. |
Win Murray | Harris Associates
Partner, Portfolio Manager and Director of U.S. Research Win Murray has been a co-manager of the Oakmark Select Fund (OAKLX) since 2013. He also serves as the Director of U.S. Equity Research at Harris Associates. He joined Harris Associates in 2003 as an Equity Analyst after working in investment roles at Colonial Management Associates, Federated Investors and ASB Capital Management. He holds an M.B.A. from Georgia State University (1996) and a B.A. in Russian/East European Studies from the University of North Carolina (1992). |
